The New Orleans Pelicans say big man Jaxson Hayes will miss at least two weeks with a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow. Hayes was injured during Friday’s preseason game against the Detroit Pistons.
Hayes is heading into his fourth NBA season. In his first three years with the Pelicans, Hayes has averaged 8.1 points and 4.3 rebounds over 194 games.
Hayes is extension eligible for the first time. If the 6-foot-11 big man and the Pelicans can’t reach an agreement on an extension, Hayes will be eligible for restricted free agency in the summer of 2023.
