Jaren Jackson Jr., Grizzlies Agree To $105 Million Extension Before Deadline

The Memphis Grizzlies beat the clock and agreed to an extension with Jaren Jackson Jr. just before the deadline for members of the 2018 NBA Draft Class to sign rookie extensions.

Jackson’s agent Austin Brown confirmed the deal, four years for $105 million, with ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

His deal was expected to be completed prior to the 6 PM deadline.

Memphis selected Jackson as the No.4 overall pick in 2018 out of Michigan State.

At 6-foot-11, the versatile forward earned All-Rookie honors in 2019.

He alongside point guard Ja Morant make up the core of the Grizzlies’ young team.

Jackson has proven to be an effective scorer, defender, and reliable three-point shooter who’s averaged 15.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.6 blocks, and 1.1 steals per game.

To add to that, he shot 48 percent from the floor while shooting 37.5 percent from three and averaging 4.5 attempts in three seasons.

Jaren Jackson Jr., 22, missed all but 11 games due to a meniscus tear in his left knee last season.

Despite being expected to miss the entire season, he managed to return for the Grizzlies’ late-season postseason push that resulted in them getting the No.8 seed out West.

He was active in the preseason Grizzlies game and seemed to be healthy heading into this season.

The Memphis Grizzlies open the season against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday.
