James Harden on Russell Westbrook: 'When it's all said and done, we'll be in the Hall of Fame'

It’s a long season, and Westbrook is beloved by many who are still with the Clippers. He will see how well he connected with Clippers fans in five weeks when the Nuggets visit Intuit Dome. The Clippers were there for Westbrook at what might have been the nadir of his career. But the Clippers are committed to the pieces they have now without Westbrook, and Saturday’s result makes it easier not to look back again. “We’re both inner-city L.A. kids,” Harden said of Westbrook after Saturday’s game. “When it’s all said and done, we’ll be in the Hall of Fame. That’s a story right there. I’m happy he’s happy and he’s playing well. He’s doing his thing here in Denver. So it’s always happiness when we see each other.”

More on this storyline

Norman Powell led the Clippers with 35 points on 7-of-11 shooting from deep. James Harden added 21 points with 12 at the foul line, while Ivica Zubac went for 24 points and 15 rebounds. Jamal Murray scored 22 points for Denver. -via Denver Post / October 26, 2024
So for you, when you look around this place, what gives you the inspiration this season? Harden: I feel like we have to show out. I’m not going to individualize myself. I think us as an organization gotta show out and show that since we quote “lost” or we’re “not a championship contender” from outsiders, that we want to show out and bring some energy into this building and win a lot of games. And I think we got the pieces to do it. And then as Kawhi starts getting himself back into the mix, he is just going to add on and we are going to just keep getting better and growing. So I’m excited. I think the fans are excited. We got a new establishment, and we are ready to get it on. -via ESPN / October 23, 2024
Harden held a team minicamp in Phoenix during the week of Sept. 9, hosting two-a-day workouts with the entire team at Arizona State University, capped off by a softball game for teammates and staff members. Harden paid for every player’s expenses for the trip, from his co-star Leonard to the players on Exhibit 10 contracts. -via ESPN / October 23, 2024
Law Murray: Tyronn Lue on Clippers acquiring Russell Westbrook two seasons ago and what he expects from Westbrook today “He brings energy every night. That’s why we went out and got Russ… I don’t think tonight will be any different.” -via Twitter @LawMurrayTheNU / October 26, 2024
The main reason that Westbrook now calls Denver home is one of the NBA’s worst-kept secrets. “It’s my job to push [Jamal Murray] every night to be the best that he can be,” Westbrook said. “He’s an unbelievable player, and he still has so much room to get better in a lot of areas. I’m grateful to be able to be here and help him along that journey.” -via For The Win / October 24, 2024
