This season, Jalen Green is allowing just .840 points per isolation possession (70th percentile), a better mark than Wolves stalwart Jaden McDaniels.
On Green’s defensive growth and why it necessitates more attention than his jaw-dropping highlights.

Anthony Davis named Western Conference Player of Week. Derrick White in the Eastern Conference. Jalen Green averaged nearly 10 more points than Davis, but Davis averaged 16.7 rebounds and shot 68.6 % (Green 56.9 %.) Green will have to keep it up to land player of month. – 3:35 PM

“The competitiveness is there and less mistakes in the rotations, schemes and coverages.”
On Jalen Green’s vastly-improved defense which, like his recent offensive tear, should be appreciated — and is more important in the long run.

Bill Simmons says that watching Jalen Green in March, he’s reminded of a young, late-90s Kobe Bryant.

Typically, individual defensive ratings can be misleading and require more context to grasp a player’s capabilities on that side of the floor, but in Green’s case, the eye test — and more importantly, the Udoka test — match. “Other than a lot of film work, and that’s with the team and individually, the main thing is accountability,” Udoka said recently. “You don’t like seeing mistakes over and over on film, you’re going to improve in those areas. A little bit of that as well as the other guys that do it naturally — Dillon, Fred and our group in general — seeing where we’re ranked and try not to have any weak links. You don’t want to be that guy, so he’s improved in those areas. The competitiveness is there and less mistakes in the rotations, schemes and coverages.” -via The Athletic / March 25, 2024
