Bleacher Report insider Eric Pincus noted that he expects the Lakers to fill their last roster spot on Sunday, the final day of the 2022-23 regular season. The transaction is likely to overlap the rest of the season, and may contain a non-guaranteed clause, partially guaranteed contract, or a team option that covers the 2023-24.
Should they be able to land a deal, the said player will be eligible to be part of the Lakers should they ultimately qualify soon for playoff contention.
Currently ranked at seventh-place with a 42-39 record, the Lakers can still avoid the play-in position as both the Golden State Warriors and L.A. Clippers are just leading them by 1.0 game advantage within the standings. They are set to close out their season at home against the Utah Jazz later.
