Joel Embiid

76ers big man Joel Embiid underwent successful knee surgery following an injury he suffered last week, the team announced on Tuesday.

“Joel Embiid had a successful procedure today to address an injury to the lateral meniscus in his left knee. He will be re-evaluated in approximately fours week.”

Sixers fans will be pleased to know the reigning MVP still has a chance at returning this season, though his quest for another regular season MVP title will be over for this season.

The NBA introduced new rules for the 2023-24 season, which state that a player needs to play in at least 65 games to qualify for end-of-season awards, such as MVP.

Jalen Brunson

Knicks guard Jalen Brunson has been in red-hot form and was named as an All-Star for the first time in his career last week, but suffered an ankle injury against the Grizzlies on Tuesday night.

Fortunately, Brunson looks to have avoided a severe sprain to his ankle and left the arena without a limp or crutches, SNY’s Ian Begley’s reports. 

In NY’s 123-113 win, Memphis tried to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter, which prompted Tom Thibodeau to put his starters back on.

Brunson twisted his right ankle as he was trying to drive to the basket and slipped.

He left the court immediately and didn’t return to the game.

It’s not yet known in Brunson will miss any time with the injury.

Khris Middleton

There were concerning scenes after the Bucks’ 114-106 loss to the Suns on Tuesday night as Khris Middleton left the arena in crutches and a walking boot after rolling his ankle.

In the first quarter, Middleton went up for a three while being guarded by Kevin Durant and landed on Durant’s foot as he came down and was in some pain on the ground.

The officials reviewed the play and upgraded the foul to a Flagrant 1, so Middleton took two shots, but missed one.

He went back to locker after the free throws and was ruled out for the rest of the game.

Fortunately, Middleton underwent X-rays came back negative, according to Bucks beat reporter Eric Nehm.

There is no timeline for Middleton’s return as yet.
