Jrue Holiday will not play tonight against the San Antonio Spurs due to a right elbow sprain.
Holiday is the only Celtic on the injury report, and Al Horford is expected to join the starting lineup as a result. Derrick White will assume all lead guard duties, and Payton Pritchard should see an increase in minutes as well.
Horford and Kristaps Porzingis are active again after missing Boston’s last game against Toronto.
Holiday has been playing great in his last few games, averaging 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists per game with a steal and half a block. He’s shot 53% from the floor and 58% from three in that span.
For the Spurs, Zach Collins and Keldon Johnson will both be out for Gregg Popovich. San Antonio will have to go smaller without Collins at center, but will still have 7’5” Victor Wembanyama on their side. Johnson is a big loss for the Spurs — he’s averaging 17.6 points per game this season.
Holiday, who was questionable on yesterday’s injury report, has missed two games so far this season. While the team hasn’t said anything about the severity of the elbow injury, it is unlikely to sideline Holiday for very long.
