The Indiana Hoosiers advanced to the 2022 NCAA Tournament after beating Wyoming in a 66-58 First Four win on Tuesday. The group was led by NBA prospect Trayce Jackson-Davis, who scored 29 points and pulled down 9 rebounds to go along with some loud dunks at the rim. The atmosphere was dominated by Indiana fans, as the game took place in nearby Dayton, Ohio.
This time, the Hoosiers will have to go to Portland, Oregon for their matchup against St. Mary’s, a team that should have a good amount of fan support out West. With Indiana now being the team that has to travel further, head coach Mike Woodson is calling all Indiana fans for their full support on Thursday.
“Can I say, Hoosier Nation, I need you all,” Woodson said. “I need 8,000 people in Portland. Can we do that? I hope we have a heck of a crowd out there. I hope they travel. We travel pretty far. But with that being said, we still gotta play the game. We can’t run from it. Saint Mary’s is a great program. They’ve had a hell of a year. And we’ve got to go back and break this game tape tonight down and learn from it and then get ready for Saint Mary’s.”
Last night definitely showed the large support Indiana Hoosiers basketball can get when the program is back to its winning ways. And even if Indiana loses to St. Mary’s tomorrow night, their players and coaches can proudly say this season was a huge success towards bringing Hoosier pride back.
