Just peak vitriol in this Knicks-Sixers series.
Sixers fans think they should be up 2-1 because of the bullshit at the end of Game 2.
Knicks fans think they should be up 3-0 because of the bullshit Embiid pulled early in Game 3.
This is New York-Philly fandom personified. – 9:54 PM

Mitchell Robinson is out for the rest of the game with the left ankle that he was questionable with coming in.
Meanwhile, Tyrese Maxey had his leg rolled up on and briefly was down on the ground in pain, but is up and on his feet now and staying in. – 9:23 PM
Austin Krell @NBAKrell
Maxey did not like that he didn’t get a foul call close to the rim, so he responded with a transition dunk on the hit-ahead pass from Embiid and then rained a 3 in Hartenstein’s eye.

Ian Begley @IanBegley
Precious Achuiwa’s first playoff minutes were pivotal for NYK. Achuiwa checked w/3-min left in 1st half & M. Robinson (3), I. Hartenstein (3) in foul trouble. He forced Joel Embiid into a miss in the post, blocked a Tyrese Maxey layup & had a tip-out that gave NYK an extra FGA. – 9:07 PM

Knicks depth on full display here. Precious Achiuwa called into defending Embiid duty with Mitch & Isaiah in foul trouble. He held it down as the anchor for weeks during the reg season when they were out injured, and just went +3 in those final mins of the half. What a trade that – 8:55 PM
Fred Katz @FredKatz
Halftime. Knicks lead the 76ers 58-55.
• Brunson 17 pts, 5 asts

This building sounds like The Garden. Donte DiVincenzo’s half court heave doesn’t even count and the building erupts.
Knicks lead Sixers, 58-55, at halftime.

Another fun, fun game. – 8:53 PM
Steve Popper @StevePopper
Achiuwa with a solid defensive appearance – good job on Embiid and on switch swats a Maxey drive. – 8:53 PM
Derek Bodner @DerekBodnerNBA
Knicks will take a 58-55 lead into the half, with Jalen Brunson (17 points, 5 assists) having his first big performance of the series. Knicks are shooting 7-14 from 3-point range and have just 3 turnovers so far.
Embiid has 17 for the Sixers, 11 in the 2nd. Maxey has 11, Oubre 8 – 8:53 PM
Tim Bontemps @TimBontemps
Halftime: Knicks 58, 76ers 55
Donte DiVincenzo throws down a massive dunk, makes a floater and then makes a 60-footer – after the buzzer – to send the Knicks into the break 24 minutes away from a 3-0 lead.
Jalen Brunson and Joel Embiid each have 17 points to lead their teams. – 8:53 PM
Fred Katz @FredKatz
Worth noting: Can’t imagine how Precious Achiuwa could have played better in those minutes.
Super one-on-one defense of Embiid. A block in help. A big-time offensive board. – 8:53 PM
Fred Katz @FredKatz
A fantastic example of the state of the NBA is Josh Hart fouled Tyrese Maxey and Hart is calling for a replay because he thinks it wasn’t a foul and Embiid is calling for a replay because he says it’s a flagrant – 8:50 PM

Kristian Winfield @Krisplashed
Now three fouls apiece on Mitchell Robinson. In comes Precious Achiuwa. Critical minutes for the Knicks to close the first half. – 8:44 PM
Kristian Winfield @Krisplashed
Mitchell Robinson, clearly laboring, is playing through the pain. – 8:43 PM
Austin Krell @NBAKrell
Knicks took what appeared to be an injury timeout for Mitchell Robinson, who could barely walk up the court after the last Embiid jumper.
Robinson is staying in the game for now. – 8:42 PM
Tim Bontemps @TimBontemps
Mitchell Robinson has really been fighting through this ankle issue tonight. Tom Thibodeau just had to call timeout after Robinson struggled to get back up court after defending a Joel Embiid jumper.
Score is tied at 49 with 3:52 to go in the first half. – 8:42 PM
Ky Carlin @Ky_Carlin
Mitchell Robinson is doubled over. That ankle is clearly bothering him. One has to give him credit for at least giving it a go, but the Knicks have to make a change there. He can barely move. – 8:42 PM
Fred Katz @FredKatz
Mitchell Robinson is looking really hobbled on that ankle. He’s been favoring the ankle for a while but now limping off the court on that timeout. – 8:41 PM

Keith Pompey @PompeyOnSixers
Embiid remains in with three fouls. – 8:33 PM
Derek Bodner @DerekBodnerNBA
Besides the fact that the charge gives Joel Embiid his 3rd foul, it was also extremely unnecessary. Mitchell Robinson almost literally can’t move. A eurostep is an easy transition basket there. – 8:31 PM
Vincent Goodwill @VinceGoodwill
That’s more than a flagrant 1, honestly. Embiid deserved to get tossed pic.twitter.com/Z0BfbrI69x8:31 PM

Quick review of Nick Nurse’s challenge, which is unsuccessful. Joel Embiid now has three fouls – two offensive fouls and the grab of Mitchell Robinson’s leg – in 14 minutes.
Going to be a huge final 6:27 of the first half, with Philly currently leading by 3. – 8:31 PM
Steve Popper @StevePopper
Challenge fails for Nick Nurse – offensive foul on Embiid, his 3rd, and Mitchell Robinson warms the heart of Tom Thibodeau by standing his ground. – 8:31 PM
Fred Katz @FredKatz
When was the last time Mitchell Robinson took a charge? – 8:31 PM
Austin Krell @NBAKrell
Unsuccessful challenge. Embiid has 3 fouls. Big decision here for Nurse. – 8:31 PM

Offensive foul stands. Joel Embiid has 3 fouls. Crucial call. – 8:30 PM
Kristian Winfield @Krisplashed
Joel Embiid just picked up his 3rd foul charging into Mitchell Robinson. Nick Nurse is challenging and it could be overturned.
This would be 3 fouls on Robinson and Hartenstein.
Game plan is clear: Foul the Knicks’ centers out. – 8:30 PM
Kyle Neubeck @KyleNeubeck
I give Mitchell Robinson an absolute ton of credit, he is very clearly hurt and is still out there battling his ass off. – 8:29 PM

Somehow Isaiah Hartenstein has more fouls than Joel Embiid. Has anyone ever filed a grievance about this? – 8:26 PM

I don’t remember the last time there was such a wide Twitter consensus on a call. Joel Embiid should have been ejected. – 8:09 PM

In my opinion, that was *way* more reckless/dangerous by Embiid than the Flagrant 2s that are guys getting hit in the head or groin.
That was really wild and could’ve been disastrous. – 8:07 PM
Dan Favale @danfavale
embiid got lucky that wasn’t a flagrant 2 – 8:06 PM

Embiid gets a flagrant one. The Sixers wanted the refs to pay close attention to how things were being played. But you know, they didn’t want Embiid and Lowry to get first-quarter flagrants. – 8:06 PM
Wes Goldberg @wcgoldberg
Embiid pulling down Mitchell Robinson looks worse every time they show the replay. – 8:06 PM
Fred Katz @FredKatz
Joel Embiid is very lucky that’s a flagrant 1. In the regular season, if ejecting the MVP doesn’t potentially swing a playoff series, that could totally be a 2. – 8:06 PM
Nick Wright @getnickwright
They’re leaving Embiid in? With 2 first quarter fouls and him clearly being furious??? That’s a choice. – 8:05 PM
Mike Vorkunov @MikeVorkunov

Embiid has been dropping some odd cheap shots — not just “the cheap shot.” He bumped Hartenstein after a foul earlier and now punches Robinson from the floor. – 8:04 PM

Obviously he’s someone that’s a big part of this team and a big part of our team identity. So it’s a bummer to see.  “We hope he’s good, but we have the next-man-up mentality.” -via New York Post / April 26, 2024
