How Tyran Stokes, other top local high school basketball players have performed in summer


The country’s top high school basketball players, including Louisville native Tyran Stokes, are getting ready to showcase their talents at the 2024 Nike EYBL Peach Jam in North Augusta, South Carolina.

Play-in games are scheduled to start Friday, and the event will conclude July 21 with the finals.

Peach Jam marks the final stage of Nike’s EYBL circuit and features its finest teams.

Before Stokes and others hit the court, here is a look at what they have been doing since their prep basketball seasons ended:

Stokes, a consensus five-star power forward for Prolific Prep, lived in Louisville until age 9. He has received scholarship offers from U of L, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, USC, UCF, Arkansas, Oregon and North Carolina. Stokes has averaged 20 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game for the Oakland Soldiers heading into Peach Jam. He also won a gold medal at the Under-17 FIBA World Cup as a member of Team USA, averaging 12.3 points, seven rebounds and 5.6 assists per game.

Kaden Magwood, a consensus four-star guard who started at Western High School, has seen his stock rise after starring at Oak Hill. He has played at the NBPA Top 100 camp and Adidas Eurocamp. Magwood is averaging 22.5 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game for Team Loaded on Adidas’ 3SSB circuit. He had 32 offers as of July 2 and recently led all players in scoring at the first session of DMV Live, a July national recruiting event in Maryland. He averaged 31.5 points per game on 50.5% shooting from the field and 36.8% from beyond the 3-point arc. For his senior season, he is suiting up for Combine Academy.

Male High School point guard Cole Edelen has received offers from Western Kentucky and Central Arkansas this summer after guiding the 16U Indiana Elite team to a 9-4 record before the Adidas 3SSB Palmetto Road Championship tournament. He recently guided Male to the semifinals of the KABC Titans Shootout, where the Bulldogs fell to eventual champion St. Xavier. Edelen averaged 17.5 points per game.

Trinity wing Julius Edmonds picked up recruiting interest from IUPUI and Air Force after playing with Griffin Elite on the Under Armour Association Rise circuit.

St. Xavier standout Chance Dillingham hit two game-winning shots in one day to help St. Xavier win the KABC Titans Shootout over Male and Great Crossing. Dillingham is playing with Mac Irvin Fire on the EYBL circuit, winning Defensive MVP at Session IV in Kansas City, Missouri. Dillingham is averaging 12.6 points and 3.8 assists per game with Mac Irvin Fire. The guard recently took an official visit to Tennessee State.

St. Xavier guard Jeremiah Jackson has picked up an offer from Toledo after playing with the 16U Indiana Elite team and helping St. Xavier win the KABC Titans Shootout.

Trinity’s Jayden Johnson, a four-star wing, is playing with 16U Mokan Elite on the EYBL circuit. He averaged 6.9 points and 3.8 rebounds per game on the circuit. He also participated in the Nike Elite 100 Camp. Johnson received an offer from Indiana in June. He also received an offer from Arizona State in May.

Male forward Keashawn Jordan played on the EYBL circuit with the Indy Heat-Gym Rats this summer, averaging 3.8 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. Jordan earned his first offer from Missouri State in June after helping Male reach the KABC Titans Shootout semifinals. He averaged 13.2 points per game at the event.

Manual’s Justice Decker takes a shot at the Seventh Region tournament Tuesday night at DuPont Manual High School. Decker finished with 18 points. March 5, 2024

Manual was one of three Louisville programs to make the KABC Titans Shootout semifinals thanks to the play of wing Justice Decker. He also suits up for Central Kentucky Basketball Club on the MADE Hoops circuit.

Ballard guard Cash Whitehead recently received an offer from Kentucky Christian. He scored 29 points and grabbed nine rebounds in a win over Marion County at the KABC Titans Shootout.
