Rockets vs Celtics News

The Rockets enter this Monday cross-conference affair on a 14-game losing streak and are 0-10 on the road this season.

The Celtics enter riding a two-game winning streak, including a true dismantling of the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night in LeBron James’ return to action.

Over the previous two games, Jayson Tatum has played some of his best basketball. He averaged 35 points per game on 50 percent shooting and 47.6 percent from three. It was almost a different Tatum. He was aggressive on the boards as well as driving to the hoop. I know it was just a two-game sample, and these are the stretches that make Boston fans fall for Tatum over and over again, but his aggressiveness was rewarded with two more free throws over his typical average of five.

Green has started to play more consistent level as of late, with just one single-digit scoring output, compared to three single-digit scoring nights in his previous five. He’s second on his team in scoring this season at 14.5 per game, behind only Christian Wood.

Wood has seen his numbers dip as of late, going from 19 points and 13 rebounds per game in his first nine games to just 12.6 and 8.9 over his last seven.

This is obviously a team that will be in contention for the No. 1 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, but that doesn’t mean they can’t put together a performance that will test this rather inconsistent Celtics bunch.

The Celtics will likely get a lift from Robert Williams III in his return, so perhaps look toward a Christian Wood Points+Rebounds under.

Rockets vs Celtics Picks

The Celtics are just 3-4 as a home favorite this season, while the Rockets are 5-4-1 as an away underdog.

If you’re looking for a bet on the total, the over is 4-6 when the Rockets are an away underdog and 4-3 when Boston is a home favorite.

The Celtics have been on a roll lately, having played perhaps their best game of the season Friday night against the Lakers. But I think the Rockets cover this double-digit spread. Green had his best game as a pro against the Celtics earlier this season, scoring 30 on 8-for-10 shooting from three.

Because of that, I think Green continues his stretch of good play and take O14.5 points, as he’s hit above that total in each of his last three games.
