Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler is happy for James Harden on the back of the latter’s trade to Butler’s former team, the Philadelphia 76ers. Harden and Ben Simmons were the main trade pieces moving between the Brooklyn Nets and the Sixers ahead of the trade deadline and, for now, it appears both players have migrated to better situations as they were both seeking supposedly greener pastures.
Butler isn’t thought to have had a great relationship with Simmons so he probably doesn’t care how things work out for the Australian point guard, but he claims to be happy for Harden due to him joining one of his best friends in Joel Embiid and is looking forward to facing the new-look Philly team.
“If [Harden is] happy there, then that’s where I want him to be,” the six-time All-Star told Gina Mizell of the Philadelphia Inquirer. “He’s with one of my best friends in Joel, and they got a really good team. I can’t wait to go up against them and see what we’re made of.”
While the Heat lead the East at the moment, the Sixers aren’t far off and it’s likely they’ll be battling for conference supremacy towards the end of the regular season. With Harden now in the mix, it will be very interesting to watch.
