Alex Caruso is entering his sixth NBA season and his second as a member of the Chicago Bulls.
Prior to signing with the Bulls last summer, Caruso began his career with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he won an NBA championship in 2020.
Caruso recently spoke with K.C. Johnson of NBCS Chicago about his time in L.A. and his relationship with LeBron James.
“He helped me reach new levels of my game that I maybe didn’t have the confidence to reach at a certain point in my career,” Caruso said of James. “He enabled me to get on the court because we had such good chemistry. I was able to play off him and understand the game.”
Caruso went undrafted in the 2016 NBA draft before landing with the Lakers following a stint with the Oklahoma City Blue in the G League. Once James and company arrived in Los Angeles in 2018, the feeling around the young Lakers squad began to change, as did the stock of Caruso.
“I learned so much just from watching him. Work ethic. Getting in the gym. Working on your body. Making sure you recover. Putting the work in pre-practice.,” Caruso said of James. “He shows up and plays every night. He’s out there as the best player, No. 1 on the scouting report. And he’s going hard.”
