Los Angeles Lakers fans will have to wait before they see Russell Westbrook put on the purple and gold jersey in a game. The 32-year-old star point guard is set miss the second preseason game at the Phoenix Suns, according to head coach Frank Vogel.
LeBron James will also have his preseason debut later as he will miss the game against the Suns too. The third player to sit out the game will be either DeAndre Jordan or Dwight Howard. Meanwhile, newcomer Carmelo Anthony is set to play his first game as a Laker.
“So we know Russ and LeBron are not. The two Anthony’s are going to play — Carmelo and Anthony Davis,” Vogel said. “And I’ll probably sit one of my two centers but I’m not sure which one yet, either DeAndre or Dwight. I’ll probably stagger those guys in these next two games.”
After playing the Suns, the Lakers will visit the Warriors before playing at home against these two teams. Their final preseason game will be at the Kings.
