Duke coach Jon Scheyer continued his success on the recruiting trail by landing four-star forward Nikolas Khamenia on Tuesday. The No. 19 overall recruit in the 247Sports Class of 2025 rankings announced his commitment to Scheyer and the Blue Devils on the 247Sports Channel on YouTube.
“It was honestly … just a gut feeling,” Khamenia told 247Sports on why he committed to Duke. “Going on my visit, it felt like my next home and ultimately I think that is the best place for me.”
The Studio City, California, native and star at Harvard Westlake High School committed to Duke over UCLA and Gonzaga.
With Khamenia’s commitment, Duke jumped to the No. 1 overall recruiting class in the 2025 class as the program seeks its second consecutive top-ranked class under Scheyer. The Blue Devils finished with the No. 1 overall recruiting class in the 2024 cycle headlined by the addition of No. 1 overall prospect Cooper Flagg.
“Duke values my versatility,” Khamenia said in a previous interview with 247Sports. “Jon Scheyer is a young coach who relates to his guys and they have a coaching staff where a lot of them played at Duke. Chris Carrawell is one of the coaches who was also a player there.”
Khamenia is Duke’s third commitment this cycle, joining Cameron and Cayden Boozer, who jointly committed to the program earlier this month. The sons of former Duke standout and NBA All-Star Carlos Boozer marked the Blue Devils’ first commitments in the 2025 recruiting cycle. The Boozer brothers committed to the Blue Devils over Miami, with Florida in the mix as well.
Notre Dame held the No. 1-ranked recruiting class in the 2025 cycle before Duke jumped the Irish to take over the top spot.
