Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II is making significant progress in his right adductor recovery and is set to be re-evaluated in 10 days, the club announced Monday. His workload will continue to intensify for the next few days with him participating in various on-court workouts.
Payton II hasn’t made yet an appearance for the Dubs since returning to them in a midseason trade with Portland Trail Blazers.
He last played on Feb. 9 before being dealt to a multi-team trade that saw him being back to the team. But an examination by the Warriors ultimately ruined the transaction, wherein he was found to have failed to comply with the physical test.
Still, Golden State proceeded to acquire him, as Payton II served an important element of their title run last season.
Upon appearing in 15 games for Portland, Payton is averaging 4.1 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists.
