Derrick Rose had a terrific return to the New York Knicks during after the 2021 trade deadline. His play off the bench landed Rose a new deal last offseason. Then the follow-up year was an injury-plagued mess for Rose and the Knicks.
Now, Rose should be good to go for the start of the upcoming season. He’s responded well after undergoing ankle surgeries in both December and February. That injury, and the subsequent surgeries, caused Rose’s season to end in mid-December.
The former MVP is expected to be New York’s primary backup for starting point guard Jalen Brunson. Rose has adapted well to a reserve role in recent seasons, after spending his first eight NBA seasons as a starter.
