Former Los Angeles Lakers and current Toronto Raptors point guard, Dennis Schroder, recently confirmed, despite denying in the past, that he had a lucrative four-year, $84 million contract offer from the Lakers during the 2020-21 season, which he ultimately turned down.

Schroder opened up about his decision in a revealing interview with Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports.

The German point guard opted for a different path, signing with the Boston Celtics for a one-year deal worth $5.9 million during the subsequent offseason. Following his stint with the Celtics, Schroder returned to the Lakers on a one-year contract, earning just under $3 million.

In his latest revelation, Schroder expressed regret over rejecting the substantial offer from the Lakers, stating, “And I would have signed it. I would never just leave money on the table. My mom didn’t raise me that way.” The decision to decline the significant contract was influenced by advice from Schroder’s representation.
