Chet Holmgren Finishes With 23 Points In Summer League Debut

Chet Holmgren finished with 23 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and six blocks in his summer league debut for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Holmgren set a summer league record for blocks and threes, and became the first player in the competition’s history to record at least five blocks and hit four threes in a game. Holmgren shot 7-of-7 from two and 4-of-6 from three.

Holmgren credited Josh Giddey’s passing for his performance.

“Shout out to this guy right here,” Holmgren said of Giddey, who finished with 14 points and 11 assists. “Double-double with assists. Great night for him, and that helped me out a lot.”

Giddey pointed out Holmgren’s impact on the defensive end.

“It makes my job easy playing with someone like him. He can stretch the floor, finish at the rim. He protects me, he’s got my back on the defensive end. So love playing with him. It’s been one game, and the chemistry’s only getting stronger.”

Jalen Williams, who the Thunder selected with the No. 12 pick, also added 17 points in the game.
