It has been a roller coaster for Anthony Davis in this year’s playoffs in terms of scoring. Davis has been inconsistent during the playoffs, with his scoring output fluctuating wildly from game to game. Despite scoring over 30 points in three of his playoff games, Davis has also scored as low as 11 points in a game.

His game-by-game playoff scoring is 22, 13, 31, 12, 31, 16, 30, 11, 25. If the pattern continues, Davis is due for a bad game in the Lakers’ upcoming matchup with the Warriors.

NBA legend Charles Barkley believes that Davis’ inconsistency makes it difficult for him to be considered a great player. “A great player does not have… a player who’s talented who’s inconsistent can have those variations,” Barkley stated on TNT. “You can never be a great player if you’re giving me 40 [points] and 15 [points].”

Despite his doubts about Davis’ performance, Barkley believes that a Lakers win is still possible if Davis has a strong showing. “If he plays great, the Lakers are going to win,” Barkley stated. “But he’s due for another bad game tomorrow.”

Barkley’s comments highlight the importance of consistency for players looking to establish themselves as truly great in the NBA. While Davis has shown flashes of brilliance during his career, he will need to improve his consistency if he hopes to join the ranks of the all-time greats like Barkley.
