Canada will officially close its borders on unvaccinated amatuer and professional athletes starting Jan.15 next year.

The Canadian government has decided to maximize its rules, since COVID-19 vaccines are pretty much available in all places.

“As of January 15th, there will no longer be an exemption in place for professional and amateur athletes,” he said… Those who remain unvaccinated will soon be unable to play games in Toronto against the Raptors or in any of the seven Canadian NHL teams’ home arenas.”

Medicino further added that they will scrap their vaccine exemption for family travel, international students, and essential workers.

Around 95 percent of NBA players are fully vaccinated, meanwhile there are roughly 23 out of 30 MLB teams that have reached the 85 percent vaccination rate.

Some notable names like Kyrie Irving of the Brooklyn Nets, Bradley Beal of the Washington Wizards, and Denver Nuggets’ Michael Porter Jr. were already barred from entering New York to attend Knicks and Brooklyn Nets games due to the existing vaccine mandate of the city.
