Bronny Update Puts LeBron’s Future at Lakers in Doubt

It is no secret that LeBron James is longing to play with his son Bronny in the NBA, and the latest update from NBA insider Shams Charania has cast doubt on LeBron’s future in LA.

“When I talked to people around the league, [Bronny] is on the draft boards of multiple teams and it is curious what if he gets drafted somewhere not in LA? LeBron James does have a player option this summer,” Charania said on FanDuel TV  Thursday.

Following the Lakers’ 127-110 win over the Mavs on Wednesday, LeBron raced back to the locker room to watch Bronny’s college game.

With Kevin Durant watching from the front row, the USC freshman hit his first three shots in USC’s 82-67 loss to Arizona.

Durant said of Bronny after the game, “He was aggressive. He played well.”

In just his tenth game after suffering a cardiac arrest in July, Bronny finished the game with 11 points on 5-11 shooting, six assists, five rebounds, a block and five turnovers.

“When I talked to NBA people, they know defensively, he’s a lot further along than offensively,” Charania explained.

Before his heart issues, Bronny was touted as a definite first-round pick, but has since dropped to a late first-round selection at best.

Teams like the Miami Heat have are keeping an eye on the younger James and are even attending his games and taking notes, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst.

For now, Bronny’s USC coach Andy Enfield has been impressed with his form and development.

“The young man went through a situation this summer, medically, that was very difficult and challenging,” Enfield told ESPN. “Bronny James, he has no ego, he’s a terrific teammate. He’s so easy to coach because he just wants to get better. I think you see it. And he is getting better.”
