Brandon Ingram recently shared his reaction to being left out of the NBA All-Star selections for the Western Conference reserves.
In an exclusive interview with Mark Medina of Sportskeeda, Ingram expressed his surprise and motivation following the coaches’ decision not to include him among the All-Star reserves.
Reflecting on the snub, Ingram humorously remarked on the irony of facing double teams on the court while not receiving All-Star recognition from the coaches.
“That’s crazy because the coverages from the coaches, they all send double teams at me. Yet, they don’t vote me for All-Star (laughs). But my inspiration comes from me playing not up to my standards. When I don’t play up to my standard, that’s motivation to keep me going,” Ingram explained, highlighting his determination to excel despite setbacks.
“At certain points, it hits where everything is clicking. For me, it’s usually right around this time at All-Star [break] where I have a couple of games under my belt to develop a rhythm,” Ingram added, emphasizing his commitment to finding his peak performance.
Despite the disappointment, the setback serves as fuel for Ingram’s competitive spirit, driving him to elevate his performance and strive for excellence on the court.
At 26 years old, Ingram continues to showcase his versatility and impact on the game, averaging 21.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game this season.
