Ben Simmons has been the hottest name in the trade rumours the last few months, after requesting a trade from the Philadelphia 76ers.
According to Keith Pompey of The Inquirer, Simmons felt underappreciated and mentally exhausted in Philadelphia. People are trying to understand why Simmons- who has not spoken publicly yet- wants out.
“The Sixers asked why Simmons wanted out, and Paul informed them that the point guard was mentally exhausted. The source believes they didn’t pay attention to Simmons’ state of mind or feelings about being in Philly because of the four years remaining on his contract,” Pompey wrote.
Simmons reportedly does not want to play again in Philadelphia. At the same time, the Sixers’ head coach Doc Rivers and front office leader Daryl Morey claimed they would like to see Simmons back with the team.
For now, the three-time All-Star is still holding out, and he deserves some room to feel mentally exhausted. Yet, the Sixers need to do the best for the team, as Simmons was a liability in offense during the playoffs.
