Real Madrid (Liga Endesa) is close to sign 21-year old Spaniard international center Usman Garuba (203cm-104kg-2002) for upcoming 2023-24 season. He currently played at Oklahoma City Thunder in NBA. It will actually be his comeback to Madrid as he has played here before.
Two years ago he was drafted by Houston Rockets (NBA) in first round (23rd overall).
Garuba has been also a member of Spanish international program for some years. He has regularly played for Spanish senior team since 2021 and previously for U18 National Team in 2019.
Garuba represented Spain at the Olympic Games in Tokyo (Japan) two years ago. His stats at that event were 4 games: 1.0ppg, 2.8rpg.
He has played also professionally in NBA G League (RGV Vipers). Garuba played in the final of Spanish Cup (Copa del Rey) in 2019 and 2021.
Despite young age he had impressive career. He was voted Eurobasket.com All-Spanish Liga Endesa Best Young Player of the Year and Eurobasket.com All-Euroleague Rising Star of the Year in 2021.
