Benfica outscored Rio Breogan in the pre-season clash on Saturday. Toney Douglas (189-PG-1986, college: FSU) stepped up with 23 points to lead the Portuguese team.
Benfica eked out a 37-35 halftime lead. The teams traded baskets throughout the third term. Benfica ensured a 2-point lead heading into the fourth frame. But Rio Breogan sank 22 points in the fourth stanza to force overtime. Benfica though went for 17 points in the extra period to snatch the win. Terrell Carter II (208-C-1996, college: Fresno St.) produced 22 points, while Trey Drechsel (198-SG-1996, college: GCU) added 14 points for Benfica. Matej Rudan (208-PF-2001) replied with 17 points, while A Lewis had 16 points for Breogan.
