Quite upsetting was Sambir’s 44-point home defeat in a game versus Rivne who smashed hosts It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Sambir. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game without a history. Rivne led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Sambir’s 38 and made 23-of-26 free shots (88.5 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Sambir 35-23 including a 26-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Nigerian-Russian center Aleksey Adediran (206-1982, college: Binghamton, agency: BIG) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Forward Oleksii Soloviov (192-1997) chipped in 20 points and 4 assists. Four Rivne players scored in double figures. Center Roman Lipko (201-1995) produced 12 points and 7 rebounds and forward Sergey Roman (204-1992) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rivne maintains first place with 7-1 record which they share with defeated Sambir. Newly promoted Sambir still keeps top position with two games lost. They share it with Krivbas 2. Rivne will meet at home league’s leader Krivbas 2 in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sambir will play again against the league’s leader Rivne and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Krivbas 2 – Politekhnik-2 85-69

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Krivbas 2 as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Krivbas 2 defeated 3rd placed Politekhnik-2 in Kryvyi Rih 85-69. The game was mostly controlled by Krivbas 2. Politekhnik-2 managed to win second period 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Krivbas 2’s coach Sergei Korablov used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Maksym Mochalov (201-1995) responded with 28 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Vladislav Tsitsora (188-2001) scored 11 points and 9 rebounds. Krivbas 2 have a solid series of three victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Sambir. Politekhnik-2 lost fourth consecutive game. Politekhnik-2 at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the third place with five games lost. Politekhnik-2 will play next round against strong Sambir trying to get back on the winning streak. Krivbas 2 will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Politekhnik-2 in Kharkiv.
