International Point guard Pavlo Burenko (184-PG-1990, agency: BIG) had a great game in the last round for top-ranked Budivelnyk, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 24.
The 32-year old player was the main contributor (33 points, five rebounds and six assists) to his team’s victory, helping them to beat Zaporizhye (#9, 3-26) 82-75. It allowed Budivelnyk to consolidate first place in the Ukrainian Superleague. Budivelnyk has a very good season and are considered to have a run for the championship title. They improved their record to 28-1. In the team’s last game Burenko had a remarkable 90.0% from 2-point range. It was one of impressive evenings for him as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Pavlo Burenko has solid league stats. He is in league’s top in assists (6th best: 4.4apg).

The second best player in last round’s games was young Vladlen Berezhnyy (199-F-1995) of Polit-Halychyna. Berezhnyy had a very good evening with 30 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists. Of course Polit-Halychyna cruised to a 78-66 relatively comfortable win over slightly lower-ranked Hoverla (#6, 9-21). Polit-Halychyna’s 5th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 15-14 record is not bad and everything may still change. Berezhnyy is a newcomer at Polit-Halychyna, but is already one of team’s top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 14.4ppg (#8). He also registered 6.7 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was center Sergii Skira (210-C-2000) of Cherkasy (#7). Skira scored 21 points and grabbed thirteen rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Cherkasy, leading his team to a 79-72 win against slightly higher-ranked Polit-Halychyna (#5, 15-14). Cherkasy can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 7-23 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Skira he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Skira has individually a great season in Ukraine. After 29 games, he made it on the list of the league’s leaders in rebounds with 8.1rpg (5th best).

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it’s accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) – 2*BSAG – 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM – 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) – 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) – (FTA-FTM)
