Saba Saladze

Swingman Saba Saladze (196-G/F-2005) had an amazing evening in the last round for Basco, receiving a Hoops Agents U18 League Player of the Week award for round 11.
The 17-year old player had a double-double of 30 points and 19 rebounds, while his team beat Sokhumi (#6, 2-6) 84-72. Basco maintains the 4th position in their group in Georgian U18 League. They would have been even better if they hadn’t lost a few games earlier this season. Basco will need more victories to improve their 4-3 record. Saladze just recently signed at Basco, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Saba Saladze has solid league stats. He is in league’s top in rebounds (4th best: 12.4rpg).

The second best player in last round’s games was young Sandro Zaridze (193-F-2005) of Gori. Zaridze had a very good evening with a double-double of 35 points and 17 rebounds. Bad luck as Gori lost that game 77-96 to the higher-ranked Tbilisi (#2, 7-2). Gori managed to keep the same 7th spot in Group B. 8 lost games are too many considering they did not win any game. Zaridze is a newcomer at Gori, but is already one of team’s top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 26.1ppg (#2). His other stats are also decent: 14.9rpg and 3.3apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was forward Giorgi Kvirikashvili (180-F-2005) of Dinamo (#3). Kvirikashvili scored 23 points and grabbed eight rebounds. He was a key player of Dinamo, leading his team to a 90-77 easy win against #4 ranked Basco in a game of the week. Dinamo needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams in Group B. Their record at this point is 5 victories and 2 lost games. Kvirikashvili has a very solid season. In 7 games in Georgia he scored 15.0ppg. He also has 4.9rpg and 2.4spg.

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it’s accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) – 2*BSAG – 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM – 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) – 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) – (FTA-FTM)
