The Second Stage in 2MLS just started. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game of round 1 in the 2MLS took place in Novi Sad. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of Borac ZM to Star NS 78-77 on Saturday evening. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Nemanja Zigon (191-1996) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Bosko Bumbic (191-2001) contributed with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Stefan Balmazovic (201-1989) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds for Borac ZM. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Star NS is looking forward to face Pirot on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Borac ZM will play against Radnicki KG and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game between Joker S. and Radnik SU in Sombor ended with biggest points difference. Joker S. outscored guests from Surdulica 110-71. Joker S. will play against Slodes BG in Beograd in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Radnik SU will play at home against Gajdobra and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games in round 1 were not that significant. Pirot was smashed by Gajdobra on the road 105-86. Radnicki KG destroyed Slodes BG on its own court 103-70. Bottom-ranked Zeljeznicar C. managed to outperform Zitko Basket in Cacak 85-72. Radnicki 1950 recorded a loss to Morava at home 81-86. Mladost SP defeated Napredak on the opponent’s court 91-75. Beko was beaten by Klik A. in a home game 54-71.
The most impressive performance of 1st round was 25 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists by Vuk Borovicanin of Beko.

Joker S. – Radnik SU 110-71

The game between Joker S. and Radnik SU in Sombor ended with biggest points difference. Joker S. outscored guests from Surdulica 110-71. Joker S. will play against Slodes BG in Beograd in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Radnik SU will play at home against Gajdobra and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Gajdobra – Pirot 105-86

No shocking result in a game when Gajdobra crushed at home Pirot 105-86. Gajdobra shot 63.5 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three nailing 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. Gajdobra players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. Guard Mateja Todoric (190-1998) stepped up and scored 20 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and guard Aleksa Zaric (194-1998) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds (perfect behind the arc making all five shots). Five Gajdobra players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Pavle Stepanovic (205-2002) responded with 22 points and 8 rebounds and Strahinja Stankovic (198-1999) scored 16 points. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gajdobra will play against Radnik SU in Surdulica in the next round. Pirot will play at home against Star NS and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Radnicki KG – Slodes BG 103-70

Very expected game when Slodes BG was smashed by Radnicki KG in Kragujevac 103-70. Radnicki KG outrebounded Slodes BG 39-27 including 24 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 34 assists. Point guard Mihailo Jovicic (190-1999, agency: BeoBasket) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 5 rebounds and 14 assists for the winners and center Mihailo Todorovic (210-1995) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Radnicki KG’s coach Stevan Mijovic felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side center Luka Kovacevic (206-2002) responded with 14 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Stanko Ilic (200-1994) scored 5 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Radnicki KG will play against Borac ZM in Zemun in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Slodes BG will play at home against Joker S. to get more than just one victory in their record.

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when Zeljeznicar C. won against Zitko Basket in Beograd 85-72. Zeljeznicar C. made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Pavle Nikolic (200-2005) stepped up and scored 24 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and guard Predrag Panic (185-1990) chipped in 22 points. Four Zeljeznicar C. players scored in double figures. Zeljeznicar C.’s coach Aleksandar Bjeljic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side forward Edin Veskovic (196-1993) responded with 20 points and 9 rebounds and swingman Bogdan Riznic (201-1990) scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Zeljeznicar C. will play against Radnicki 1950 in Kragujevac in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Zitko Basket will play on the road against Klik A. in Arilje and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Radnicki 1950 – Morava 81-86

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when Radnicki 1950 lost to Morava in Kragujevac 81-86. Morava dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Radnicki 1950’s 36. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists. Dragomir Jovic (-1994) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 assists for the winners and center Srdjan Grujic (206-1983) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Four Morava players scored in double figures. At the losing side Bogdan Carovic (-2002) responded with 19 points, 6 assists and 5 steals and Danilo Glisovic (-2003) scored 17 points (made all of his seven free throws). Radnicki 1950’s coach Nenad Nikolic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. Morava will play against Napredak in Aleksinac in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Radnicki 1950 will play on the road against Zeljeznicar C. in Cacak and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Napredak – Mladost SP 75-91

But Napredak was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Smederevska Palanka 91-75. Stefan Kojic (202-1992) stepped up and scored 25 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and power forward Lazar Stankovic (204-1999) chipped in 15 points and 15 rebounds. Five Mladost SP players scored in double figures. At the losing side point guard Nikola Raicevic (185-1991) responded with 21 points and 5 assists and Nemanja Sevic (-1999) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mladost SP will play against Beko in Beograd in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Napredak will play on the road against Morava in Vladicin Han and hopes to get back on the winning track.

At the losing side forward Vuk Borovicanin (203-2001, college: Daytona St.) responded with 25 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and Dimitrije Kitanovic (-1999) scored 3 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Klik A. will play against Zitko Basket in Beograd in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Beko will play on the road against Mladost SP in Smederevska Palanka and hopes to get back on the winning track.
