Croatian Tomislav Zubcic (213-1990, agency: BIG) fired 19 points for the winners. The former international center Josh Sharma (213-1995, college: Stanford) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Lions’ coach Ryan Schmitt used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Larry Austin Jr (188-1996, college: CMU) produced 26 points, 6 assists and 4 steals for lost side. Lions have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 16-2 record. Cheshire Phoenix at the other side keeps the fourth place with 11 games lost. Lions will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Cheshire Phoenix will play at home against Newcastle Eagles (#9) and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
The game in Glasgow was also worth to mention about. Second ranked Flyers (16-6) played at the court of 6th ranked Gladiators (9-10). Flyers defeated Gladiators 88-76. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Thomas Bell III (198-1998, college: N.Texas) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds. Jelani Watson-Gayle contributed with 18 points and 6 assists for the winners. American point guard David Sloan (183-1999, college: ETSU) replied with 19 points and 8 assists for Gladiators. Flyers have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 16-6 record having just four point less than leader London L. Gladiators at the other side keep the sixth place with ten games lost. Flyers will play against Plymouth Patriots (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Gladiators will play against Sharks and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Sheffield was also quite interesting. 7th ranked Plymouth Patriots (8-11) played at the court of eighth ranked Sharks (8-13). Sharks managed to secure a 5-point victory 82-77 on Friday. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of Tyrn Flowers who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side Markedric Bell responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Sharks maintains eighth position with 8-13 record. Plymouth Patriots lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 11 games lost. Sharks will meet higher ranked Gladiators (#6) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Plymouth Patriots will play against the league’s second-placed Flyers having rather not much hope for a victory.

In the last game of round 16 bottom-ranked Surrey S. were defeated by Manchester G. in a road game 97-92.

Caledonia G. – Bristol Flyers 76-88

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Scorchers (2-17) were defeated on the road by fifth ranked Manchester Giants (10-9) 97-92 on Friday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Manchester Giants looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Tajh Green (203-1998, college: Benedict) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import point guard Rahmon Fletcher (178-1988, college: Green Bay) who added 15 points and 10 assists during the contest. At the losing side naturalized Jamaican forward Ryan Martin (206-1991, college: Tenn Tech) responded with 22 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Shakem Johnson (201, college: Tennessee St.) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Five Manchester Giants and four Scorchers players scored in double figures. Manchester Giants maintains fifth position with 10-9 record. Scorchers lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 17 games lost. Manchester Giants will again meet bottom-ranked Scorchers (#10) in the next round where they are favorite. Scorchers will play against Leicester Riders and hope to secure a win.
