The games are now more important than at the beginning of the Regular Season. We may still expect few shocking results in upcoming 4 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Telsiai as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Telsiai defeated 12th ranked Palanga at home 86-72. Telsiai forced 20 Palanga turnovers. 27 personal fouls committed by Palanga helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international center Tomas Rimsa (208-1996) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Laurynas Kaveckis (190-1990) chipped in 12 points during the contest. At the losing side American point guard Zac Owens (180-1998, college: Bethel, IN) responded with 26 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Palanga’s coach Povilas Sakinis rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Telsiai have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Palanga lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth place with 15 games lost. Palanga will play next round against Vilkaviskis trying to get back on the winning streak. Telsiai will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked Delikatesas in Joniskis.
The game in Silute supposed to be also worth to mention about. Third ranked Suduva-Mantinga (16-3) played at the court of 5th ranked Silute (11-11). Suduva-Mantinga smashed Silute 80-59. Aurelijus Pukelis (205-1994) notched 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and Evaldas Dziaugys supported him with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Even 12 points by point guard Arminas Bergaudas (195-2001) did not help to save the game for Silute. Silute’s coach Simonas Serapinas gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Suduva-Mantinga have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 16-3 record having 3 victories less than leader Telsiai. Silute at the other side dropped to the sixth place with 11 games lost. Suduva-Mantinga will play against Vytis (#4) in Sakiai in the next round. Silute will play at home against Kretinga and hopes to get back on the winning track.
A very close game took place in Kretinga between Atletas and Kretinga. Ninth ranked Atletas (9-12) got a very close victory on the road over 8th ranked Kretinga (8-13). Atletas managed to escape with a 1-point win 78-77 on Saturday evening. Tomas Balciunas fired a double-double by scoring 11 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Atletas’ coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Martynas Mazeika produced 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. Atletas have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Stekas. Loser Kretinga dropped to the tenth position with 13 games lost. Atletas will meet Stekas (#7) in the next round. Kretinga will play against Silute and hope to secure a win.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 22: Delikatesas won against Neptunas-Akv. on the opponent’s court 87-83. Vytis unfortunately lost to Mazeikiai in a home game 84-89. Silute was rolled over Suduva-Mantinga on the road 78-99. Zalgiris II defeated Stekas on its own court 74-68. Delikatesas was beaten by Vytis in Sakiai 85-73. Atletas won against Rytas 2 at home 95-83.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 31 points by Gytis Sirutavicius of Atletas.

Neptunas-Akv. – Delikatesas 83-87

Very expected game in Klaipeda where 14th ranked Neptunas-Akv. (3-17) was defeated by seventh ranked Delikatesas (9-13) 87-83 on Saturday. Delikatesas made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Center Povilas Gaidys (206-1991, college: Southeastern) fired a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field) for the winners. Sarunas Kulevicius (193-1989) chipped in 18 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Point guard Rytis Sakaitis (193-2004) produced 18 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and Kristupas Keinys (202-2004) added 17 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Neptunas-Akv. players scored in double figures. Despite that victory Delikatesas went down to ninth position due to points difference. Loser Neptunas-Akv. stay at the bottom place with 17 games lost. Delikatesas will meet at home league’s leader Telsiai in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Neptunas-Akv. will play against the league’s second-placed Zalgiris II (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.

There was a small surprise in Sakiai where sixth ranked Mazeikiai (11-10) defeated one of their biggest challengers Vytis (13-7) 89-84 on Saturday. The former international swingman Arturas Jomantas (200-1985) fired 16 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals for the winners. Point guard Sarunas Valunta (192-2000) chipped in 19 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Augustinas Mikstas (203-2001) produced 29 points and 6 rebounds and Eimantas Zilius (201-1999) added 20 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Mazeikiai moved-up to fifth place. Loser Vytis keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. Mazeikiai will meet at home Rytas 2 (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Zalgiris II outrebounded Stekas 37-23 including a 26-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Center Motiejus Krivas (214-2004) fired 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Gytis Nemeiksa (201-2001) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds. Four Zalgiris II players scored in double figures. Justas Sinica (203-1985) produced 17 points and Gediminas Povilauskas (195-1992) added 12 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side.
