Talented Justas Ziubrys (183-PG-2005) had a very impressive game in the last round for league’s leader VKKM and that’s him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 10.
The 17-year old playmaker recorded a triple-double of 52 points adding also twelve rebounds and twelve assists, while his team outclassed Perkunas (#9, 4-7) with 42-point margin 144-102. It allowed VKKM to consolidate first place in the Lithuanian U18 League. VKKM have a solid 9-2 record. In the team’s last game Ziubrys had a remarkable 70.6% from 2-point range and got eight three-pointers out of 15 attempts. He turned to be VKKM’s top player in his first season with the team. Ziubrys has impressive league stats. He is in league’s top in points (3rd best: 24.8ppg) and averages solid 2.5spg and 55.2% FGP.
The second most remarkable performance in last round’s games was young center Aleksas Bieliauskas (206-C-2005) of Zalgiris II. Bieliauskas impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 27 points and 17 rebounds. Bad luck as Zalgiris II lost that game 83-90 to the lower-ranked Perkunas (#9, 4-7). This loss caused Zalgiris II to drop to 5th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 6-4 record is not bad and everything may still change. Bieliauskas is well-known by Zalgiris II fans and he already established his position as one of team’s most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 21.4ppg (#6). He also registered 13.4 boards per game.
The third best performed player last round was Martynas Mejaras (2005) of Perkunas (#9). Mejaras got into 30-points club by scoring 40 points in the last round. He was a key player of Perkunas, leading his team to a 90-83 win against the higher-ranked Zalgiris II (#5, 6-4). The chances of Perkunas not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 7 games, recording just four victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Mejaras could try to bring Perkunas’ a little bit higher in the standings. Mejaras has individually a great season in Lithuania. After 11 games, he made it on the list of the league’s leaders in points with 26.4ppg (best scorer).
