33-year old swingman Oleksandr Petrov (191-G/F-1989) had an amazing evening in the last round for second-ranked Self Made and receives a Hoops Agents Higher League Player of the Week award for round 6.
He had a double-double of 24 points and 14 rebounds, while his team beat Vinnitsky Zubry (#5, 1-5) 89-84. Self Made is placed at 2nd position in Ukrainian Higher League. Self Made is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 2-4 record. Petrov turned to be Self Made’s top player in his first season with the team. Petrov has impressive league stats. He is in league’s top in points (9th best: 18.5ppg), rebounds (4th best: 10.3rpg) and averages solid 2.2spg and 53.1% FGP.
Second best performed player last round was Vasyl Fedoryak (201-G-1994) of Che-Basket. He is a guard in his first season at Che-Basket. In the last game Fedoryak recorded impressive 34 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists. Bad luck as Che-Basket was edged by Group 2’s leader Uzhgorod (#2, 6-0) 96-95. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in Group 2. Che-Basket still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team is not often considered as one of the league’s best with a mere 2-4 record. Fedoryak is a newcomer at Che-Basket and quickly became one of team’s most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 21.0ppg (#6). He also registered 8.8 boards per game.
Third place about best performers goes to guard Yuriy Shkondya (188-G-1995) of Vinnitsky Zubry (#5). Shkondya showcased his all-around game by recording 21 points, eight rebounds and nine assists in the last round. Despite Shkondya’s great performance Vinnitsky Zubry lost 84-89 to the higher-ranked Self Made (#2, 2-4). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Shkondya has individually a great season in Ukraine. After only 6 games, he made it on the list of the league’s leaders in points with 19.7ppg (7th best) and assists with 5.7apg (5th best). He also has FGP: 53.1% and 3PT: 43.1%.
