Golden State Warriors’ forward Draymond Green says his team has been getting “punked” amid a three-game losing streak.
“No disrespect to the Orlando Magic, but that’s one of the worst teams in the league,” Green said after the Warriors’ 94-90 los against the Magic on Tuesday night, via ESPN.
“If you can’t match that with them, you definitely can’t match that going against a great team. I don’t care who is out there. You can go to the park and be outmatched but you don’t get punked… that’s what we’re doing.”
The Warriors have looked out of sorts since losing star Stephen Curry to a foot/ankle injury on Wednesday (3/16).
“We have to be smarter,” Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr said.
“There has to be a level of discipline and accountability – of competitive desire. And, I know these are great guys. I love these guys. I know they want to win. But we have to learn how to win. Right now we don’t know how to win.”
The Warriors have lacked production from Klay Thompson; who’s averaged -4% from the field and -5% from three compared to his career averages since returning from injury – and James Wiseman; who’s missed the entire season rehabilitating a knee injury.
Still, the Warriors are 22 games above .500 and legitimate contenders to win the Western Conference.
Currently, the Warriors (47-25) are third in the Western Conference.
