American-Armenian Point guard Terry Smith (185-PG-1986) put on an amazing game in the last round for Nantes, receiving a Hoops Agents ProB Player of the Week award for round 7.
The 36-year old player was the main contributor (28 points, four rebounds and two assists) to his team’s victory, helping them to crush Chalons-Reims (#8, 4-3) with 22-point margin 84-62. Nantes is placed at 12th position in French ProB. Nantes is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 3-4 record. In the team’s last game Smith had a remarkable four three-pointers out of 6 attempts. He has many years of experience at Nantes, through which he has constantly improved. Terry Smith averages this season 16.4ppg.

The second best player in last round’s games was young Surinamese Gavin Kensmil (201-F-1998) of Aix-Maurienne. Kensmil had a very good evening with a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Aix-Maurienne lost that game 77-83 to the higher-ranked Denain-Voltaire (#3, 5-2). This loss caused Aix-Maurienne to drop to 15th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league’s best with a mere 3-4 record. Kensmil is a newcomer at Aix-Maurienne, but is already one of team’s top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.3ppg (#4). He also registered 6.7 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was center Bastien Vautier (210-C-1998) of Lille (#7). Vautier scored 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Despite Vautier’s great performance Lille lost 94-100 to the lower-ranked Saint Vallier (#16, 2-5). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Lille needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 4 victories and 3 lost games. Vautier has a great season in France. After only 7 games, he made it on the list of the league’s leaders in points with 18.1ppg (7th best) and rebounds with 7.0rpg (7th best).

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it’s accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) – 2*BSAG – 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM – 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) – 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) – (FTA-FTM)
