The most surprising game was a loss of M.Haifa at the home court on Tuesday night. Hosts were defeated by M.Ma’ale Adum. 98-82. They made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. M.Ma’ale Adum. looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when M.Ma’ale Adum. made 8 blocks. Canadian center Eddie Ekiyor (206-1997, college: Carleton) had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 17 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Duane Johnson (201-1991, college: ESU) chipped in 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks during the contest. American guard Admon Gilder (193-1995, college: Gonzaga) responded with 27 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. M.Ma’ale Adum. is looking forward to face Ramat Hash. in Ramat Hasharon in the next round. M.Haifa will play on the road against E.Ashkelon and is hoping to win this game.
Very significant was E.Ashkelon’s 88-83 road victory against M.Raanana. American power forward Thomas Gipson (202-1993, college: Kansas St.) notched 20 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and Gal Gilinski supported him with 20 points and 5 rebounds. E.Ashkelon’s coach Avi Sukar allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even a double-double of 21 points and 18 rebounds by naturalized American Willy Workman (198-1990, college: Amherst) did not help to save the game for M.Raanana. E.Ashkelon will play against M.Haifa at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. M.Raanana will play against E.Netanya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
A very close game took place in Hevel Modi’in between Maccabi Rishon and H.Hevel Modi’in. Maccabi Rishon got a very close victory on the road over H.Hevel Modi’in. Maccabi Rishon managed to escape with a 2-point win 87-85 on Tuesday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The best player for the winners was Guy Palatin who scored 28 points and 5 assists. Demetrius Treadwell produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 19 rebounds for the hosts. Maccabi Rishon will meet at home M.Ramat Gan in the next round and are hoping to win another game. H.Hevel Modi’in will play against H.Ramat Gan in Givataim and hope to win that game.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 2: winless I.Nahariya lost to undefeated H.Afula on the opponent’s court 69-79. M.Ramat Gan unfortunately lost to E.Shomron in a home game 84-93. H.Ramat Gan managed to beat Ramat Hash. on the road 83-71. Winless M.Rehovot was defeated by E.Netanya on its own court 77-80.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 42 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds by Brent Jackson of M.Rehovot.

H.Afula – I.Nahariya 79-69

Very expected game when I.Nahariya was defeated on the road by H.Afula 79-69 on Tuesday. H.Afula made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. H.Afula outrebounded I.Nahariya 40-27 including 30 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American Jimmy Hall (203-1994, college: Kent St.) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Tomer Asayag (190-1999) chipped in 21 points and 4 assists. American power forward Romello White (203-1998, college: Ole Miss) produced 15 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Dominez Burnett (196-1992, college: Davenport) added 13 points and 6 assists respectively for the guests. H.Afula will meet E.Shomron in the next round where they are favorite. I.Nahariya will play against M.Rehovot and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
