Coincidentally all hosts won their games, including even overtime victory of Vahakni City at home. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The biggest surprise of round 3 in Caucasus Basketball League took place in Dvin where host Dvin (1-1) crushed Cilicia (0-2) 107-74 on Wednesday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Dvin. Cilicia managed to win fourth quarter 27-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Cilicia’s 48. Dvin forced 24 Cilicia turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Cilicia’s players. The best player for the winners was American guard VJ Holmes (193-96, college: Lamar) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. American-Trinidad and Tobago power forward Reggie George (208-84, college: RMU) chipped in 21 points and 14 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Javonte Matthews (195-95, college: St.Katherine) who recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cilicia will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest. Dvin will try to continue on its current victory against Vahakni City on the road.
Vahakni City (2-0) survived in overtime against New Bayazet (0-2) by three points 83-80. The game was dominated by American players. It was a good game for swingman Aston Morton (193-95, college: LeMoyne-Owen) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 17 rebounds. Kenneth Miller contributed with 23 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Guard KeLyn Adams (194-99, college: Arkansas Tech) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists for New Bayazet. Vahakni City will play against Dvin (#4) at home in the next round. New Bayazet will play against Mega (#5) in Tbilisi and hopes to get finally their first victory.

In the last game of round 3 Iverioni lost to undefeated Mad Foxes in Yerevan 73-87. Mad Foxes smashed Supersonics at home 93-66.
The best stats of 3rd round was 20 points and 14 rebounds by Jack Fiddler of Mad Foxes.

Mad Foxes – Iverioni 87-73

There was a minor upset in Yerevan where Georgian Iverioni (4-2) was defeated by Armenian Mad Foxes (2-0) 87-73 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by Mad Foxes. Iverioni managed to win fourth quarter 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Mad Foxes forced 20 Iverioni turnovers. Strangely Iverioni outrebounded Mad Foxes 43-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Iverioni’s players. It was a great evening for American guard Damian Archer (183-96, college: Miles) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points and 6 assists. Arka Avedian helped adding 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Archer is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was American swingman Evan Hinson (193-97, college: Austin Peay) with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import point guard Kendarius Smith (178-96, college: N.Alabama) scored 23 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mad Foxes will meet Mega (#5) in the next round. Iverioni will have a break next round.

Vahakni City – New Bayazet 83-80 OT

Vahakni City (2-0) survived in overtime against New Bayazet (0-2) by three points 83-80. New Bayazet cut a 16-point first quarter deficit to tie the game at the end of regular time. But they lost overtime period 6-9. Vahakni City forced 23 New Bayazet turnovers and outrebounded them 51-39 including 39 on the defensive glass. The game was dominated by American players. It was a good game for swingman Aston Morton (193-95, college: LeMoyne-Owen) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 17 rebounds. Guard Kenneth Miller (186-95, college: OVU) contributed with 23 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Morton attended previously one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball. Guard KeLyn Adams (194-99, college: Arkansas Tech) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Evan Jester (201-99, college: Georgia Tech) added 16 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for New Bayazet. Four New Bayazet players scored in double figures. Vahakni City will play against Dvin (#4) at home in the next round. New Bayazet will play against Mega (#5) in Tbilisi and hopes to get finally their first victory.

No shocking result in a game in Yerevan where Mad Foxes (2-0) smashed Supersonics (0-2) 93-66 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Mad Foxes. Supersonics managed to win fourth quarter 26-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mad Foxes forced 19 Supersonics turnovers and outrebounded them 50-37 including 36 on the defensive glass. The game was also dominated by American players. It was a great evening for guard Jack Fiddler (193-98, college: SD Mines) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds. Guard Nick Velasquez (190, college: Union, TN) helped adding 20 points and 6 assists. Fiddler attended previously one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball. The best for the losing side was guard Robert Holliday (193, college: E&H) with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Brandon Adams (191-96) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Supersonics’ coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Mad Foxes will meet Mega (#5) in the next round. Supersonics will have a break next round.
