The most exciting game of round 7 in the BSL took place in Graz. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 5th ranked UBSC Graz (2-5) to second ranked Gmunden Swans (5-2) 94-92 on Friday evening. 24 personal fouls committed by UBSC Graz helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Joe Reece (203-1999, college: Duquesne) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!). The former international guard Daniel Friedrich (181-1992) contributed with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 12 assists for the winners. American guard Jeremy Smith (190-1991, college: Nicholls) answered with 32 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists for UBSC Graz. Gmunden keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Wels and Oberwart. UBSC Graz lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with five games lost. Gmunden is looking forward to face Oberwart (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. UBSC Graz will play against Klosterneuburg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Sixth-ranked Arkadia Lions (1-6) were very close to win a game against third ranked Gunners Oberwart (5-2). Gunners Oberwart managed to secure only three-point victory 72-69. However their fans expected easier game. American players dominated the game. It was a great evening for forward Robert Allen (206-2000, college: N.Texas, agency: Elevate Sports Alliance) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Ziggy Reid helped adding 13 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side swingman Ryan Moffatt (198-2000, college: Colgate) responded with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Gunners Oberwart have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Wels and Gmunden. Traiskirchen at the other side keeps the sixth place with six games lost. They share the position with Furstenfeld. Oberwart will play against league’s second-placed Gmunden on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Traiskirchen will play against the league’s leader Wels (#1) to get more than just one victory in their record.
An interesting game for Raiffeisen Flyers Wels (5-2) which hosted in Wels 4th placed Dukes (3-4). First ranked Raiffeisen Flyers Wels had an easy win 82-59. It was an exceptional evening for Craig Osaikhwuwuomwan who led the winners and scored 18 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Dragan Bjeletic came up with 8 points and 7 rebounds for Klosterneuburg in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Wels maintains first place with 5-2 record, which they share with Oberwart and Gmunden. Loser Dukes keeps the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Vienna. Wels will meet Traiskirchen (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Klosterneuburg will play against UBSC Graz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games in round 7 were not that significant. Bottom-ranked Furstenfeld was beaten by BBC Nord on the road 77-64. Vienna was destroyed by Kapfenberg on its own court 62-92. Bottom-ranked Furstenfeld unfortunately lost to Vienna in a road game 81-87.
The most impressive performance of 7th round was 20 points and 9 rebounds by Leon Bulic of Vienna.


BBC Nord – Furstenfeld 77-64

No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Nord Dragonz (5-1) beat bottom-ranked Furstenfeld Panthers (1-6) in Eisenstadt 77-64 on Friday. BBC Nord forced 21 Furstenfeld turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when BBC Nord made 8 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for the former international point guard Lukas Hahn (190-1999) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists. Bosnian power forward Sead Hadzifejzovic (202-1989) accounted for 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. Five Nord Dragonz players scored in double figures. Nord Dragonz’s coach Felix Jambor used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Croatian center Mario Spaleta (209-1995, agency: Starting 5) came up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds and Spanish guard Juan Coffi (193-1998, college: CBU) added 15 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists respectively for Furstenfeld in the defeat. BBC Nord moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Kapfenberg. Furstenfeld lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with six games lost. They share it with Traiskirchen. BBC Nord will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Furstenfeld will play against Vienna (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 9th ranked BC Vienna‘s (3-4) home loss to eighth ranked Kapfenberg Bulls (5-1) 62-92 on Friday. Kapfenberg dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to BC Vienna‘s 32. Kapfenberg forced 20 Vienna turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for French power forward Maxime Carene (209-2001) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds (perfect from the field making all ten shots !!!). American guard Andrew Jones (191-1997, college: Texas) accounted for 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Four Kapfenberg Bulls players scored in double figures. Kapfenberg Bulls’ coach Klym Artamanov felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swedish guard Sheriff Drammeh (190-1996, college: Hawaii) came up with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and naturalized Croatian center Leon Bulic (211-2001) added 6 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Vienna in the defeat. Kapfenberg moved-up to seventh place, which they share with BBC Nord. Loser BC Vienna dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Klosterneuburg. Kapfenberg will meet at home St.Poelten (#10) in the next round. Vienna will play against Furstenfeld (#11) and hope to secure a win.
