The Regular Season in VTB-Youth League is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 6 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Top ranked CSKA-Junior (36-8) recorded its eighth loss on the court of third ranked Khimki-2 on Tuesday night. Visitors were edged by Khimki-2 70-67. Strangely CSKA-Junior outrebounded Khimki-2 47-30 including a 21-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Pavel Repnin (199-2006) who scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. Arseniy Ivankov (193-2005) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Nikolay Natcvlishvili (198-2005) who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. CSKA-Junior’s coach Alexandr Gusev tried various players’ combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn’t help. Khimki-2 maintains third position with 32-10 record having six points less than leader CSKA-Junior. CSKA-Junior at the other side still keeps top place with eight games lost. They share the position with MBA-2. Khimki-2 are looking forward to face Zenit-2 (#5) in Saint Petersburg in the next round. CSKA-Junior will play on the road against Minsk (#7) and is hoping to win this game.
Seventh-ranked Minsk (20-22) made lots of trouble for fifth ranked Zenit-2 (28-14). The visitors from Saint Petersburg managed to secure only one-point victory 81-80. However their fans expected easier game. It was a good game for Alexandr Porotnikov (192-2007) who saved his team from a defeat with 19 points and 7 assists. German Mucshinskiy contributed with 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Forward Vitaly Duchko (197-2006) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds for Minsk. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Zenit-2 have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains fifth position with 28-14 record. Newly promoted Minsk keeps the seventh place with 22 games lost. Zenit-2 will play against higher ranked Khimki-2 (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Minsk will play against the league’s leader CSKA-Junior (#1) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Parma-2 have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 29-15 record. Loser UNICS-2 keeps the ninth place with 29 games lost. Parma-2 will meet at home N.Novgorod-2 (#6) in the next round. UNICS-2 will play against Uralmash-2 in Yekaterinburg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 54 Avtodor-2 was defeated by Lokomotiv-2 in Krasnodar 77-67. Uralmash-2 was beaten by N.Novgorod-2 at home 76-94.


Lokomotiv-2 – Avtodor-2 77-67

There was no surprise in Krasnodar where 12th ranked Avtodor-2 (11-33) was defeated by eighth ranked Lokomotiv-2 (18-24) 77-67 on Tuesday. Lokomotiv-2 dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Avtodor-2‘s 30. They outrebounded Avtodor-2 44-31 including 31 on the defensive glass. Lokomotiv-2 looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Center Kirill Luzan (207-2006) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Ilya Grushevskiy (194-2005) chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was center Anton Suschik (210-2005) with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and guard Petr Forsov (184-2005) scored 21 points. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lokomotiv-2 maintains eighth position with 18-24 record. Avtodor-2 lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth place with 33 games lost. Lokomotiv-2 will meet at home Samara-2 (#10) in the next round. Avtodor-2 will have a break next round.
