The Second Stage in ABA League just started. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Bosnian Siroki in Novi Sad on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by Serbian Vojvodina 62-56. Vojvodina made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Filip Rebraca (206-1997, college: Iowa) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. American guard Scoochie Smith (191-1994, college: Dayton) contributed with 14 points and 6 assists for the winners. Vojvodina NS’s coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Slovenian guard Jan Rebec (192-1993, agency: PEPI SPORT) answered with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for Siroki. Vojvodina is looking forward to face Ilirija in Ljubljana in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Siroki will play at home against Cedevita Jr. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another exciting game for Serbian Zlatibor which played on the court of Montenegrin Podgorica. Zlatibor upset home team edging them after exciting game by two points 72-70. Podgorica was very close to get their first win. But it seems they have to wait a little bit longer. American swingman Malcolm Bernard (198-1994, college: Xavier) stepped up and scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Milos Glisic chipped in 10 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side American power forward Anthony Smith (201-1997, college: Murray St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Zlatibor will play against Bosna in Sarajevo in the next round. Podgorica will play at home against Helios Suns and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game for Slovenian Ilirija which hosted in Ljubljana Croatian Cedevita Jr.. Ilirija had an easy win 89-74. Mark Padjen nailed 12 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. Tomislav Buljan came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds for Cedevita Jr. in the defeat. Ilirija will meet Vojvodina in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Cedevita Jr. will play against Siroki in Siroki Brijeg and hope to win that game.
In the last game of round 1 winless Bosna beat Helios Suns on the road 76-73.
