Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most important game in the last round took place in Bochum between second ranked SparkassenStars (11-5) and sixth ranked Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (11-5) on Friday night. SparkassenStars were defeated by Eisbaeren Bremerhaven at home 72-54. Bremerhaven looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Canadian point guard Elijah Miller (183-1997, college: UPEI) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 assists and American swingman Carlos Carter (197-1999, college: Shippensburg) who added 16 points during the contest. At the losing side American guard Keith Braxton (196-1997, college: SFU) responded with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Bochum. Bremerhaven is looking forward to face Tuebingen (#4) at home in the next round. Bochum will play against the league’s second-placed Trier and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
ProA top team – Science City Jena (14-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eleventh ranked Titans (7-9) 101-78. The winners were led by American forward Rasheed Moore (198-1995, college: ESU) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and Zach Cooks supported him with 24 points and 4 assists. Even 18 points and 8 rebounds by Lukas Zerner (203-2000) did not help to save the game for Dresden. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Science City Jena have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 14-2 record. Dresden at the other side keeps the eleventh place with nine games lost. Jena will play against Koblenz (#12) at home in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Dresden will play against Nuernberg and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game in Kirchheim was also quite interesting. Third ranked Gladiators (12-4) played at the court of 5th ranked Kirchheim Knights (10-6). Gladiators managed to secure a 8-point victory 93-85 on Friday. Americans were the main players on the court. Jordan Roland fired 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Gladiators’ coach Jacques Schneider used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. James Graham produced 19 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Gladiators have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Trier moved-up to second place. Loser Kirchheim Knights dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. They share it with Muenster and Crailsheim. Trier will meet at home Bochum (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Kirchheim will play against Crailsheim and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 16: Koblenz lost to Bayreuth on the opponent’s court 77-87. Artland unfortunately lost to Tuebingen in a home game 72-83. Muenster managed to beat Vechta 2 on the road 85-83. Giessen crushed Nuernberg on its own court 93-62. Karlsruhe PS was smashed by Crailsheim in a road game 88-69. Duesseldorf lost to Hagen at home 76-88.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 21 points by Tim Uhlemann of Hagen.


Bayreuth – Koblenz 87-77

There was a minor upset when 12th ranked Koblenz (6-10) was defeated on the road by fifteenth ranked Bayreuth (5-11) 87-77 on Friday. Bayreuth made 25-of-31 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game. American swingman Demarcus Demonia (201-1999, college: A&M-Commerce) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) for the winners. The other American import guard Tehree Horn (193-2001, college: USC Aiken, agency: One Motive Sports) chipped in 23 points. Demonia is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American point guard Ty Cockfield Jr (183-1996, college: Arkansas St., agency: BIG) produced 25 points and 5 rebounds and center Moses Poelking (206-1997) added 14 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Koblenz’s coach Marco van den Berg rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. Bayreuth moved-up to thirteenth place. Loser Koblenz keeps the twelfth position with ten games lost. Bayreuth will meet Karlsruhe PS (#14) on the road in the next round. Koblenz will play against the league’s leader Jena having rather not much hope for a victory.
