It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of s Oliver Baskets. Bamberg made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. American point guard Ronaldo Segu (183-1999, college: Buffalo) scored 12 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward KeyShawn Feazell (206-1998, college: Creighton) chipped in 15 points during the contest. Bamberg’s coach Anton Gavel used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Panamanian-Puerto Rican point guard Jhivvan Jackson (182-1998, college: UTSA) responded with 11 points and 9 assists. Bamberg have a solid four-game winning streak. BBL top team – Bayern Muenchen (9-3) added another victory to their record. This time they beat sixteenth ranked Skyliners (3-10) in Frankfurt 91-84. The former international forward Niels Giffey (200-1991, college: UConn) notched 22 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and Ivan Kharchenkov supported him with 20 points. Even 26 points and 4 assists by American guard Malik Parsons (190-1999, college: NWOSU) did not help to save the game for Frankfurt. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Bayern Muenchen have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 9-3 record. Newly promoted Frankfurt keeps the sixteenth place with ten games lost. Bayern will play against ALBA (#15) in Berlin in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Frankfurt will play on the road against Chemnitz and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game in Ludwigsburg was also quite interesting. Third ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (9-4) played at the court of 5th ranked EnBW Ludwigsburg (8-6). MLP Academics Heidelberg managed to secure a 4-point victory 67-63 on Monday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of EnBW Ludwigsburg. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was Michael Weathers who scored 21 points. Justin Simon produced 15 points and 8 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Heidelberg moved-up to second place. Loser EnBW Ludwigsburg keeps the fifth position with six games lost. Heidelberg will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ludwigsburg will play against Oldenburg (#13) and hope to secure a win.
There were no shocking results in the other games in round 14: bottom-ranked Goettingen lost to Bonn on the opponent’s court 67-80. Vechta managed to outperform Oldenburg in a home game 98-91. Weissenfels recorded a loss to Chemnitz on the road 82-72. Hamburg was defeated by Braunschweig on its own court 86-91. Rostock beat ALBA in a road game 96-85.
Bonn – Goettingen 80-67
Very expected game in Bonn where 17th ranked BG Goettingen (1-10) was defeated by eighth ranked Telekom Baskets (7-6) 80-67 on Sunday. Bonn looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Goettingen‘s players. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was guard Phlandrous Fleming Jr. (193-1998, college: Florida) who scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Point guard Darius McGhee (175-1999, college: Liberty) chipped in 9 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Power forward Demajeo Wiggins (208-1997, college: BGSU, agency: Octagon Europe) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 18 rebounds and Collin Welp (206-1998, college: UC Irvine) added 16 points respectively for the guests.
