It’s still too early stage of the Regular Season in LEB Gold, but even now we can clearly see the difference between stronger teams and outsiders. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Madrid. Third ranked Estudiantes faced 4th placed Real Betis. Host Estudiantes (6-1) defeated guests from Sevilla (5-2) 86-82. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Real Betis. Estudiantes shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 51.5 percentage. 24 personal fouls committed by Real Betis helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Devin Schmidt (193-1994, college: Delta St.) fired 25 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Argentinian-Italian Patricio Garino (201-1993, college: GWU) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Serbian point guard Aleksandar Cvetkovic (188-1993) produced 15 points and 4 assists for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Estudiantes have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Fuenlabrada. Real Betis at the other side keeps the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with Ourense. Estudiantes is looking forward to face Cartagena (#13) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Real Betis will play against the league’s leader Burgos SP (#1) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.

Worth to mention a great performance of Hungarian power forward Gyorgy Goloman (210-1996, college: UCLA) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 5 rebounds. Miha Lapornik contributed with 15 points for the winners. American guard Xavier Johnson (185-2000, college: SIU) answered with 13 points and 7 rebounds for Gipuzkoa. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Bottom-ranked Alicante (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 75-60 loss to sixteenth ranked Cantabria (2-5) in Alicante on Friday evening. It was a great evening for Mirza Bulic who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds. At the losing side Kevin Larsen responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds. Alicante’s coach Antonio Perez rotated eleven players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cantabria moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Valladolid. Alicante lost their seventh game in a row. They still close the standings with seven games lost. They share the position with Moron. Cantabria will meet at home bottom-ranked Moron (#18) in the next round. Alicante will play against Ourense having rather not much hope for a victory.
Other games of round 7 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Ourense was defeated by Castello in Castellon 95-86. Obradoiro beat Burgos T. at home 95-89. Zamora was destroyed by Fuenlabrada on the opponent’s court 91-64. Cartagena was outscored by Palencia in a home game 67-100. Menorca managed to beat Moron on the road 69-63. Valladolid was defeated by Oviedo on its own court 78-82.

Alicante – Cantabria 60-75
