It’s still too early stage of the Regular Season in BBL, but even now we can clearly see the difference between stronger teams and outsiders. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
The game had a very big importance for second-ranked ratiopharm Ulm as it allowed them to take a leadership position. ratiopharm Ulm defeated 16th ranked Rasta Vechta at home 85-76. The best player for the winners was Israeli point guard Ben Saraf (197-2006) who scored 18 points. Brazilian power forward Marcio Santos (204-2002) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. ratiopharm Ulm’s coach Ty Harrelson used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Jayden Gardner (201-2000, college: Virginia, agency: MSG) who recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Vechta lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixteenth place with four games lost. Vechta will play next round against strong Ludwigsburg trying to get back on the winning streak. Ulm will try to continue on its current victory against twelfth ranked Hamburg at home.
Important game to mention about took place in Muenchen. Seventh ranked Bayern Muenchen (4-2) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 9th ranked s Oliver Baskets (2-2) 70-69 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of s Oliver Baskets. It was a good game for American-Puerto Rican point guard Shabazz Napier (185-1991, college: UConn) who saved his team from a defeat with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Carsen Edwards contributed with 14 points for the winners. American Zachary Seljaas (202-1997, college: BYU) replied with 11 points and 8 rebounds for Wuerzburg. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Ludwigsburg and Heidelberg. Wuerzburg at the other side dropped to the tenth position with two games lost. They share it with Braunschweig. Bayern will play against Braunschweig (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Wuerzburg will play against Heidelberg and hopes to get back on the winning track.
We should mention about the upset which took place in Berlin, where higher ranked Braunschweig (2-2) lost to fourteenth ranked ALBA Berlin (2-3) in a road game 61-65 on Sunday. Trevion Williams scored 8 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. The best for the losing side was Barra Njie with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. ALBA moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Frankfurt and Hamburg. Loser Braunschweig dropped to the tenth position with two games lost. They share it with Wuerzburg. ALBA will meet Bamberg (#15) on the road in the next round. Braunschweig will play against Bayern (#4) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
Rest of the games of round 6 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Bamberg was defeated by Oldenburg in a road game 67-59. Frankfurt was smashed by Heidelberg at home 72-95. Weissenfels destroyed Hamburg on the opponent’s court 96-75. Rostock unfortunately lost to Chemnitz in a home game 60-68. Ludwigsburg managed to beat Bonn on the road 89-79.
The best stats of 6th round was 18 points and 5 rebounds by Angelo Allegri of Bonn.
Oldenburg – Bamberg 67-59
There was no surprise in Oldenburg where 14th ranked Bamberg (1-3) was defeated by twelfth ranked EWE Baskets (3-2) 67-59 on Friday. Oldenburg made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. American guard Geno Crandall (191-1996, college: Gonzaga) scored 16 points and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import Seth Hinrichs (201-1993, college: Lafayette) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American point guard Ronaldo Segu (183-1999, college: Buffalo) with 21 points and 5 assists and the former international center Filip Stanic (206-1998) scored 7 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Oldenburg moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Bonn and Chemnitz. Loser Bamberg dropped to the fifteenth position with three games lost. Oldenburg will meet Weissenfels (#9) on the road in the next round. Bamberg will play against ALBA (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

No shocking result in a game in Frankfurt where seventh ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (4-2) smashed 11th ranked Skyliners (2-3) 95-72 on Saturday. Heidelberg shot 61.1 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 58.6 percentage. Heidelberg looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American guard Alex Barcello (188-1998, college: BYU) scored 24 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Michael Weathers (190-1997, college: SMU) chipped in 17 points and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was Lithuanian Einaras Tubutis (208-1998) with 13 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Garai Zeeb (187-1997) scored 15 points. Five Heidelberg and four Frankfurt players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Heidelberg moved-up to second place, which they share with Ludwigsburg and Bayern. Newly promoted Frankfurt dropped to the twelfth position with three games lost. They share it with ALBA and Hamburg. Heidelberg will meet at home Wuerzburg (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Frankfurt will play against Rostock and hope to secure a win.

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 12th ranked Hamburg Towers (2-3) were rolled over at home by thirteenth ranked MBC (3-3) 96-75 on Saturday. Weissenfels dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Hamburg Towers‘s 38. Weissenfels forced 24 Hamburg turnovers. The game was dominated by American players. Guard Michael Devoe (196-1999, college: Georgia Tech) scored 21 points, 5 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and Tyren Johnson (202-1988, college: Louisiana) chipped in 23 points during the contest.
