The best player for the winners was forward Andrey Semenov (200-1990, college: JMU) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds. point guard Andrey Toptunov (183-2002) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Forward Kirill Savin (196-2000, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) produced 17 points for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Another exciting game took place in Moscow where TSU edged by two points CSKA-2 73-71. Point guard Vladislav Ilinov (182-1999) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points. Kirill Krylov contributed with 12 points and 4 assists for the winners. Alexandr Evseev (205-2002) replied with 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for CSKA-2. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. TSU will play against Zenit-2 in Saint Petersburg in the next round. CSKA-2 will play on the road against Metallurg MGN in Magnitogorsk to get more than just one victory in their record.
Very important is a road loss of Barnaul against Zenit-2 on Friday night. Visiting Barnaul was defeated by Zenit-2 in Saint Petersburg 80-69. Egor Ryzhov had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. Kirill Gornaev responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Zenit-2 will meet TSU in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Barnaul will play against Univ.Surgut and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Rest of the games of round 2 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Dinamo defeated Metallurg MGN in Vladivostok 76-69. Univ.Surgut beat BARS-RGEU at home 75-64. Novosybirsk destroyed Dinamo on the opponent’s court 78-59. Winless Tambov unfortunately lost to Kupol-Rodniki in a home game 62-76. Winless Lok.Kuban lost to undefeated Khimki on the road 71-85.
