It’s still too early stage of the Regular Season in NM1, but even now we can clearly see the difference between stronger teams and outsiders. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Undefeated Quimper UJAP (4-1) recorded its first loss on the court of seventh ranked Lorient on Tuesday night. Visitors were rolled over by Lorient 89-67. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Quimper UJAP. Lorient looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was naturalized Moroccan guard Kevin Franceschi (193-1993, college: OKBU) who scored 28 points. Guard Matthieu Robin (184-1992) chipped in 7 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Swiss guard Noah Burrell (193-1997) produced 15 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Quimper UJAP’s coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Lorient (3-2) moved-up to third place, which they share with 7 other teams. Quimper at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with Orchies and Loon-Plage. Lorient is looking forward to face Rennes (#7) on the road in the next round. Quimper will play against Vitre (#8) and is hoping to win this game.
Another exciting game was between fifth ranked Levallois and 8th ranked Etoile Angers where Levallois (3-2) beat Etoile Angers (2-3) on the road 78-68. Point guard Kevin Thalien (190-1992) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points. Patrick Clerence contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Jacoby Ross (178-1997, college: Lindenwood) answered with 18 points for Etoile Angers. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Levallois moved-up to third place, which they share with 7 other teams. Angers at the other side dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. They share it with 5 other teams. Levallois will play against Tours (#13) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Angers will play against Tarbes-Lourdes (#12) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Very important is a road loss of second ranked Besancon (3-2) against seventh ranked Andrezieux (3-2) on Tuesday night. Visiting Besancon was defeated by Andrezieux in Andrezieux 78-64. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Besancon. Theo Bouteille stepped up and scored 20 points for the winners. Andrezieux’s coach Guillaume Quintard used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Calvin Jubenot responded with 20 points and 5 rebounds. Andrezieux have a solid series of three victories in a row. SCABB moved-up to third place, which they share with 7 other teams including defeated Besancon. SCABB will meet Mulhouse (#5) on the road in the next round. Besancon will play against Orchies and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games of round 5 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Rennes was defeated by Poissy in a road game 80-67. Toulouse beat Les Sables at home 95-81. Tarbes-Lourdes lost to Vitre on the opponent’s court 72-76. Challans managed to outperform Pole France in a home game 76-64. Lyon recorded a loss to Loon-Plage on the road 79-69. Berck defeated Metz on its own court 74-66. Boulogne lost to undefeated Le Havre in a road game 64-72. Avignon/Pontet won against Saint Vallier at home 100-94. Mulhouse managed to outperform Feurs on the opponent’s court 77-74. Orchies rolled over Charleville in a home game 83-64.
The best stats of 5th round was 23 points by Patrick Mwamba of Orchies.



Group A

Poissy – Rennes 80-67

There was an upset when 4th placed Union Rennes (2-2) was defeated on the road by fourteenth ranked Poissy (2-3) 80-67 on Tuesday. Poissy forced 19 Rennes turnovers. Strangely Rennes outrebounded Poissy 42-28 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Poissy looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Swingman Olivier Yao-Delon (194-1995) stepped up and scored 20 points for the winners and Lithuanian guard Kevin Cham (185-1998) chipped in 13 points and 7 assists. Four Poissy players scored in double figures. Point guard Paul Billong (193-2001) responded with 13 points and 9 assists and forward Joffrey Sclear (200-1995) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Union Rennes’ coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. Poissy moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Union Rennes dropped to the seventh position with two games lost. They share it with Berck and Vitre. Poissy will meet Pole France (#14) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Rennes will play against Lorient (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
