The Regular Season in Segunda FEB just started. The round was exceptionally exciting as three games ended with a tiny margin. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
Mataro UE defeated Palma Fibwi at home 76-69. Mataro UE made 25-of-32 free shots (78.1 percent) during the game, while Palma Fibwi only scored six points from the stripe. Mataro UE forced 25 Palma Fibwi turnovers. Strangely Palma Fibwi outrebounded Mataro UE 44-23 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. 24 personal fouls committed by Palma Fibwi helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Forward Jordi Juanola (196-1998) stepped up and scored 17 points for the winners and swingman Jordi Boix (189-2003) chipped in 20 points (made all of his eight free throws). At the losing side Guinea-Bissau forward Sidney Correia (204-1999) responded with 6 points and 12 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Palma Fibwi will play next round against strong Salou trying to get back on the winning streak. Mataro UE will try to continue on its current victory against Lliria on the road.

Benicarlo’s coach tried various players’ combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn’t help. Prat will play against Tarragona at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Benicarlo will play against Godella in Valencia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Quite upsetting was Gran Canaria 2‘s home defeat in a game versus Sant Antoni 80-72. Josep Peris fired 25 points for the winners. Massamba Diop produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sant Antoni will meet at home Santfeliuenc in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Gran Canaria 2 will play against Gandia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 1: Lliria lost to Palma BM on the opponent’s court 68-71. Salou managed to outperform Gandia in a home game 85-77. Godella lost to Santfeliuenc on the road 74-76. Tarragona lost to Sol Girones on its own court 82-87. Caceres beat Iraurgi SB in a road game 90-73. Caja 87 lost to Huesca at home 68-71. Algeciras lost to La Leonesa on the opponent’s court 68-83. Melilla managed to beat Ponferrada in a home game 84-71. Archena defeated Albacete on the road 84-78. Cordoba CB smashed Clavijo on its own court 84-65.

Benicarlo – Prat 70-75
