The game had a very big importance for second-ranked ratiopharm Ulm as it allowed them to take a leadership position. ratiopharm Ulm edged 3rd ranked EnBW Ludwigsburg at home 63-62. Ulm outrebounded Ludwigsburg 45-34 including a 34-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Isaiah Roby (203-1998, college: Nebraska) who helped to win the game recording 11 points and 7 rebounds. The former international Philipp Herkenhoff (209-1999) contributed with 9 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American Justin Simon (196-1996, college: St.John’s, agency: Octagon Europe) replied with 15 points and 9 rebounds for Ludwigsburg. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. ratiopharm Ulm have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Ludwigsburg at the other side dropped to the seventh place with two games lost. They share the position with Rostock. Ludwigsburg will play next round against Goettingen trying to get back on the winning streak. Ulm will try to continue on its current victory against fifteenth ranked Oldenburg on the road.
Undefeated Braunschweig (2-1) recorded its first loss at the home court. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (3-1) 72-65. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Braunschweig. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. MLP Academics Heidelberg have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Bayern. Braunschweig at the other side dropped to the fourth position with one game lost. They share it with Bonn and Hamburg. Heidelberg will play against Bonn (#4) at home in the next round. Braunschweig will have a break next round.

Other games in round 4 were not that significant. Bottom-ranked Weissenfels beat Frankfurt on the road 79-69. Winless Goettingen lost to defending champion Bayern on its own court 81-95. ALBA unfortunately lost to Bonn in a road game 87-91. Chemnitz managed to beat Vechta at home 88-77. Oldenburg was defeated by Hamburg on the opponent’s court 87-78.
The most impressive performance of 4th round was 27 points and 7 assists by Geno Crandall of Oldenburg.
Rostock – Wuerzburg 65-92
