Ninth-ranked Tskhum-Abkhazeti (7-12) gave a tough game to first ranked TSU (16-3) in Tbilisi on Sunday. The visitors managed to secure only two-point victory 98-96. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 11 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 2 points. TSU forced 20 Tskhum-Abkhazeti turnovers. Americans were the main players on the court. Guard Lovell Cabbil (188-1997, college: Liberty) stepped up and scored 33 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 7 steals (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners and point guard Juvaris Hayes (183-1998, college: Merrimack) chipped in 9 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. The best for the losing side was guard Marquill Smith (193-1996, college: UWG) with 26 points and 8 rebounds. TSU have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 16-3 record. Tskhum-Abkhazeti at the other side keeps the ninth position with 12 games lost. TSU’s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Titebi.
Important game to mention about took place in Tbilisi. Second ranked Kutaisi (15-4) saved a 2-point derby victory on the road edging 3rd placed Olimpi (11-8) 77-75 in the game for the second place. International power forward Giorgi Korsantia (207-1998) nailed a double-double by scoring 15 points and 17 rebounds for the winning side and Jarvis Ray accounted for 23 points. American guard Imoras Agee (193, college: Valdosta St., agency: YoungGroup Unlimited) came up with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for Olimpi in the defeat. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Kutaisi. They maintain second place with 15-4 record behind leader TSU. Olimpi lost their third game in a row. They keep the third position with eight games lost. They share it with Batumi. Kutaisi will play against bottom-ranked Dinamo (#11) in Tbilisi in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Olimpi will play on the road against Batumi (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 21: Kutaisi won against Vera on the opponent’s court 88-78. Bottom-ranked Dinamo unfortunately lost to Batumi in a home game 74-86. Rustavi managed to beat Dinamo on the road 85-69. Titebi defeated Batumi on its own court 97-82. Mega beat Cactus in Tbilisi 87-75.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 19 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals by Stewart Deangelo of Batumi.

Vera – Kutaisi 78-88

Rather expected game in Tbilisi where 5th ranked Vera (10-9) was defeated by second ranked Kutaisi (15-4) 88-78 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 54-42 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. The best player for the winners was guard Steven Pledger (193-1990, college: Oklahoma) who scored 27 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Adrian Bowie (189-1989, college: Maryland, agency: BIG) chipped in 15 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Zac Seljaas (202-1997, college: BYU) who recorded a double-double by scoring 27 points, 23 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Aubrey McAlpine (196-1989, college: RMU, agency: Interperformances) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tbilisi: TSU (#1) and Olimpi (#3). Olimpi was defeated at home 81-92 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The guests trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 46-29 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. TSU dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Olimpi’s 38. The best player for the winners was American guard Lovell Cabbil (188-1997, college: Liberty) who scored 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Not a big story in a game in Tbilisi where 11th ranked Dinamo (3-16) was defeated by ninth ranked Rustavi (8-11) 85-69 on Friday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 85-69. Rustavi looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Giorgi Tvalabeishvili (208-1998) who scored 19 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). American point guard Luwane Pipkins (180-1996, college: Providence) chipped in 14 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Four Rustavi players scored in double figures. Rustavi’s coach Anatoli Boisa used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was international swingman Nikoloz Gaprindashvili (198-2002) who recorded 26 points and 5 rebounds and forward Anzori Nadiradze (202-2001, agency: BIG) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Defending champion moved-up to eighth place. Dinamo lost their fifth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Rustavi will meet at home higher ranked Vera (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Titebi led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Batumi’s players. The best player for the winners was American power forward Javion Ogunyemi (207-1995, college: Siena) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 20 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). His fellow American import guard Isaac Asrat (188-1997, college: LCU) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 assists. Titebi’s coach Besik Lezhava used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Stewart Deangelo (196-1995, college: PFW) who recorded 19 points and 8 rebounds and Levan Eliadze (198-1992) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively.
